Photographer Denis O’Regan grew up in Barnes and still loves living here with his wife and son. He took his baby steps around Barnes pond, saw St Mary’s church go up in flames, witnessed The Beatles and Ziggy Stardust nearby at the Hammersmith Odeon, and took his first offstage pictures of David Bowie outside Olympic studios during the recording of his ‘Diamond Dogs’ album. On the 44th anniversary of the album’s release Denis will take us behind the scenes of his rock & roll years since that day in 1974.
In 1976, Denis documented the London Punk scene. Six years later he toured Europe with the Rolling Stones, and the following year shot David Bowie’s entire ‘Serious Moonlight’ world tour before setting off around the world again with Duran Duran, Queen, Spandau Ballet, Pink Floyd, and once more, David Bowie. A month before publication of his magnificent ‘Ricochet : David Bowie 1983’ boxed set of books and photographs produced in co-operation with the David Bowie estate, Denis heads to Screen 1 to tell the story of the tour, the boxed set, and regale us with anecdotes of life on the road in the Eighties with Rock royalty. From Barnes to Bowie and back.
