Olympic Cinema - A flavour of things to come...

We are delighted to announce that we have recently been granted our Premises License. This means that we are now licensed to show films and serve alcohol.

We have succeeded in our quest to find a Head Chef to run our café and dining room, and look forward to revealing further details and potential menu ideas shortly.

One of the questions we are regularly asked is “What kinds of films will you be showing?”. Initially in Screen One, our 120 seat cinema, we aim to show the best of the latest releases on offer. We have also been looking at kid’s club screenings on Saturday mornings, mid-week mum and baby screenings, and Senior Cinema - films with a mature audience in mind. Screen Two will open later in the year, offering a broader programme, including world cinema, retrospectives of directors old and new and often something more arty.

Our Membership Manager Hannah Dean, will shortly be going on maternity leave and we are pleased to welcome Mairead Murray as our Events and Marketing Manager. Mairead will be looking after membership whilst Hannah is away, as well as planning events from birthday parties to private screenings.

There has been a flurry of take up with Founder Membership over Christmas and the new year and we only have a few Founder member places left, so to check availability please contact: mairead@olympiccinema.co.uk. Despite the removal of the roof (in freezing conditions) and the removal of tons of concrete (ear plugs at the ready), it is business as usual here at Olympic Cinema HQ. Building works are progressing apace. The scaffolding has come down at the front, and although there is still lots to do, things are moving forward. We are working hard towards opening and will let you know as soon as we have a definitive opening date.
